How to Apply
Applications for the 2017-18 school year are now closed.
1. Complete your application.
Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis, so apply early. You will receive a response to your application approximately two weeks after submission.
- Personal Information
- 5 Application Questions
2. Participate in a phone interview.
Based on your written application, you may be invited to participate in a 25-minute phone interview. You will answer questions about your perspective on effective teaching and respond to classroom scenarios that you could face as a new teacher in a high-need school. The phone interview helps us further assess whether our program is right for you.
3. Receive your admissions decision.
You will be notified of your offer status within three weeks of your interview. If you receive an admission offer, you will have three weeks to notify us whether you accept.
4. Pass state tests.
Once admitted, you’ll receive information on mandatory state exams to receive an elementary teaching license, which you must pass before training starts. We recommend registering for the exams as early as possible, as the exams may be challenging to pass and test dates are limited.
5. Complete enrollment coursework.
Before summer training, you will build knowledge about teaching in high-need schools through online coursework. You will complete four to six self-guided enrollment modules, which include reading, videos, guided reflection and an assessment at the end of each module.
6. Demonstrate core teaching skills during summer training.
During an intensive summer residency you’ll learn essential skills, which you must master. Offers to teach at Nevada Teacher Corps (NTC) partner schools are contingent upon successful completion of the summer residency.
