How is Nevada Teacher Corps’ training different from traditional programs?
Traditional teacher preparation programs stress educational theory, but NTC emphasizes practical, classroom-centered coursework, with a sharp focus on core skills. You will train like a pro athlete, with ample opportunity to practice, reflect and improve, until essential teaching techniques become second nature.
What does the program cost?
As an NTC Fellow, you are responsible for tuition expenses, which will be approximately $5,500 during the 2017-18 school year; payment plans are available. If you are interested in pursuing a loan to assist with tuition expenses, you must do so independently, as eligibility varies.
You will also be responsible for other costs associated with licensure.
Note: All of the above costs are based on the 2016-17 school year and are subject to annual increases.
What does a typical teaching day look like?
A typical teaching day lasts about eight hours, with classes starting around 8:00 am. In addition, all teachers spend time preparing lessons, reviewing student work, attending meetings or supervising extracurricular activities. Balancing full-time teaching and licensure coursework is hard, but our training and support will help you rise to the challenge.
Can I defer my enrollment into the program for one year?
Deferral decisions are assessed on a case-by-case basis. To make a deferral request, contact us.
