Application Tips

In your application, you’ll share your program and subject area preferences, along with information about your background and experiences. Please have your college transcripts ready to fill in your GPA and credit hours. You will also respond to three questions designed to help us get to know you. You don’t need to know a lot about teaching right now. We value diverse backgrounds and experiences in both our students and Fellows.

Be Confident

Teaching is a rewarding but challenging career. There are no right answers, and we understand many of you may have no teaching experience. We’re interested in what you can bring to teaching and how your life experiences will shape the teacher you become.

Be Yourself

We seek and value a mix of backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, education and experiences. Our strongest candidates are critical thinkers who understand the challenges high-needs students face. They are committed to helping these students reach their full potential.

Get to know Nevada Teacher Corps

We don’t expect you to know a lot about education, teaching strategies, or child development yet. We want to understand how you think, learn and what you care about. Familiarizing yourself with the mission and values of Nevada Teacher Corps by reading our website will also strengthen your application.

Highlight Your Skills and Experiences

The students we serve come from diverse backgrounds, and we’re looking for Teaching Fellows who reflect that diversity. To stand out from thousands of applications, share specific examples about yourself. Are you great at math or computers? Have you coached or mentored youth in your community? Have you volunteered or led a group in your job? Use clear language and provide real-life experiences that show how your background will help you succeed as a teacher.

Review Your Responses

Your application reflects your writing and communication skills. Make it your best work. Read your responses carefully, and ask someone you trust to check for errors. Clear communication is important for effective teaching.
