Teach Nevada Scholarship
Nevada Teacher Corps (NTC) is excited to partner with the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) to offer a scholarship opportunity to enrolled Fellows.
What is the Teach Nevada Scholarship?
These scholarships go to students entering teaching programs, and are awarded by universities, colleges and alternative licensure programs. It was created in the 2015 Legislative Session through Senate Bill 511 and modified in 2017 through Senate Bill 544, continuing funding with Senate Bill 555 (2019).
It is open to Nevada high school graduates enrolled in a teacher preparation program in Fall 2024. They must be freshman, sophomore, or juniors, in early childhood, elementary, secondary, or special education programs. Master’s degree students planning to student teach after the 2024-25 academic year may also apply.
When Do I Apply?
Apply after successful completion of Nevada Teacher Corps’ Summer Pre-Service Training. You will be notified in August.
How Does it Work?
If approved, you’ll receive 75 % of the scholarship each semester, provided that you remain in good standing with your NTC requirements (i.e. coursework, seminar attendance). Your out-of-pocket cost drops from $7,000 to $1,750, payable in 10 monthly installments.
The remaining 25 % will be awarded after five consecutive years of successful teaching in a Nevada public school. You must also meet State Board of Education regulations.
Note: At least 3 out of the 5 years must take place at a Title I, underperforming, or high-vacancy school. A list of qualifying schools can be found on the Nevada Department of Education website.
All scholarship awardees must also agree to obtain an endorsement to teach English as a Second Language or Special Education.
