  • Have a minimum of 2.0 GPA

TRAIN

During the 2025 Spring semester, Nevada Teacher Corps (NTC) Job-Embedded Pathway participants undergo a rigorous training program inclusive of student teaching/field experience. As a participant, you will study proven teaching techniques and gain essential content knowledge. You’ll practice these skills with your peers, and with students in school classrooms.

Program participants partner with school administration and NTC program staff to create a field experience schedule that supports their current role and prepares you to step into your own classroom. Participants will also attend monthly seminars/professional development days and will completely weekly online assignments. Attendance is mandatory for all in person events and coursework is reported to the Nevada Department of Education for provisional licensure.

Licensure Coursework & Teaching

In your first year as a full-time teacher, you’ll complete licensure coursework through TNTP’s Academy Online, with monthly in-person Seminars for tailored support and practice.

We hold high standards for licensure, working closely with school and district partners to ensure your success. Your performance will be evaluated based on various classroom evidence.

To earn your standard teaching license, you must achieve a satisfactory teaching evaluation and meet all program requirements. This shows you’re effective and helps you build credibility with principals.

Job-Embedded Pathway candidates may find that their most suitable teaching position is at their current school, and you will work closely with NTC program staff to identify the right fit.

Salary and Benefits

As a full-time district employee, provisionally licensed participants will earn the same starting salary as other first-year teachers. In the Clark County School District, this is currently $58,420.

You will also receive comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision and life insurance, plus discounts through the Clark County Education Association. Nevada offers one of the most generous state retirement systems in the country.

Pre-service training is free but unpaid. After completing training and passing required state testing if you are a secondary math participant, you'll start teaching as a provisionally licensed teacher with full pay and benefits in Fall 2025. Once you begin teaching, you'll pay Nevada Teacher Corps $7,000 for program coursework and coaching.

You may be eligible for funding to offset tuition costs through the Teach Nevada scholarships, the Black Educator Excellence Cohort or TNTP AmeriCorps.

Read more about funding opportunities.

Nevada high school graduates or those from a bordering county may qualify for the Teach Nevada scholarship, covering 75% of tuition. This reduces the cost for those who qualify to $1,750, payable in 10 interest-free monthly installments. Award amounts are confirmed in July. You pay no coursework fees until after you start teaching and receiving your salary.

You will need to cover costs for educator licensure through the Nevada Department of Education, transcript requests, and personal expenses.

Due to the demanding schedule, NTC Job-Embedded Pathway participants should plan their finances to ensure they meet licensure requirements by summer’s end.
