TRAIN
In the summer, Nevada Teacher Corps (NTC) Fellows undergo a rigorous six-week training program with hands-on field experience. You will study proven teaching techniques and gain essential content knowledge. You’ll practice these skills with your peers, and with students in summer school classrooms.
Summer training runs five days a week from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with evening online assignments. Attendance is mandatory and reported to the Nevada Department of Education for provisional licensure. Note that your summer training location may differ from your fall teaching position.
Licensure Coursework & Teaching
In your first year as a full-time teacher, you’ll complete licensure coursework through TNTP’s Academy Online, with monthly in-person Seminars for tailored support and practice.
We hold high standards for licensure, working closely with school and district partners to ensure your success. Your performance will be evaluated based on various classroom evidence.
To earn your standard teaching license, you must achieve a satisfactory teaching evaluation and meet all program requirements. This shows you’re effective and helps you build credibility with principals.
NTC will assist you in finding a teaching position that suits you and aligns with principal needs. While you can’t choose your school site, NTC staff will consider your preferences during the hiring season.
Fellows will interview to teach in in high-need schools identified by our partners. We’ll support you with job search resources, mock interviews, and personalized guidance.
Salary and Benefits
As a full-time district employee, provisionally licensed Fellows will earn the same starting salary as other first-year teachers. In the Clark County School District, this is currently $58,420.
You will also receive comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision and life insurance, plus discounts through the Clark County Education Association. Nevada offers one of the most generous state retirement systems in the country.
Full salary and benefits are available once you pass all state testing for provisional licensure.
